After graduating from University of Texas in 1973, Mitch Gilbert moved to Oregon in 1974. He interned with Fletcher,Finch,Farr and Associates for over three years, in addition to working with other architectural firms in Portland and Dallas. In 1980 he started his own firm, Gilbert/Hasenberg Architects, with John Hasenberg. Gilbert/ Hasenberg specialized in residential architecture, new construction as well as remodeling. In 1994, he launched the firm Mitch G. Gilbert/Architect in order to add commercial projects to his repertoire. His work has been featured in Sunset Magazine, Better Homes & Gardens, Builder Architect and Remodelling Magazine, among others. He has been happily married since 1987 to Marjorie Kircher. Mitch has been an active member of the Portland music scene since 1980, playing electric and acoustic guitar, pedal steel guitar, bass, and keyboards. He is currently playing with Shorty & the Mustangs and The Redeemed. His other passions include photography, travel, and visiting architectural wonders the world over.
