This family with six children needed more space (natch), especially in the kitchen area. We moved the back wall out about six feet, providing enough area to create an island. |
| The kitchen was then opened up to the family room and an intermediate space for a dining nook was created between these adjoining spaces. To give each area its own identity, we used the ceiling treatment: the nook has an octagon of windows overhead, which lets in light from all directions. In addition, a large deck was added to extend the living space into the back yard. | |
